A statement from NCG about Covid-19

At Niles Community Gardens we are concerned about the health and welfare of our members and the general public. We are open this season for gardening.  However, we will all have to make changes to business as usual.

  • Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19, or who has come in contact with someone who has symptoms of COVID-19 should not come to the gardens. Ask anyone displaying symptoms to leave.

  • All meetings will be postponed until it is determined to be safe. Current and potential members should either contact their garden coordinator or apply by contacting us from the CONTACT tab on our website or on Facebook Messenger.

  • Discourage visitors to the gardens. Any visitors need to be monitored by a gardener.

  • All gardeners and visitors should maintain a minimum 6-foot social distance between people not in the same household.

  • Consider wearing disposable gloves to avoid picking up germs from gates, spigots, etc.or laundering your gloves between visits.

  • Consider bringing your own tools from home and not sharing tools. If you do use communal tools please sanitize them both before and after use. Bleach solution will be provided for that purpose.

  • Please wash your hands both before and after gardening and refrain from touching your face with unwashed hands.

We will closely monitor the situation and make changes as required by law or prudence. We realize that this pandemic has, and will continue to create, major disruptions in the day to day life of all of our members and the public in general. We appreciate everyones cooperation and support.
